Hey Ty,

Your salary number for Connolly is around where I was thinking. I was also wondering what you think Spooner is going to command? More or less than $2 mil?

And have you heard any rumors on what the salary Cap is going to be next year yet? http://www.generalfanager.com/teams/3

Nothing on Dougie? This scares me a bit!

Too many questions........what are the answers damn it!
Awwwwwwwwwww

$10.5 in cap space and after Dougie, Spoons and Connolly we have nothing left!

Spooner could be in a similar boat simply because the sample size was really about 20 games and the games before that were more miss than hit. The fact that he's an RFA also helps the Bruins, too. On Hamilton, I'm expecting something like $5-5.5M for the next four or five years at least. Still shocks me they let it get to this point with him. Theoretically could have hammered something out far earlier and saved yourself a million or two...

The handling of almost all these contracts over the last few years has been silly. I can't complain about the Rask contract as it is about where it was going to be, and the Bergy contract has to be one of the "bargains" of the league.
But, the rest "could" be debated.........imagine if we waited on Krejci? Because of the injury we may have saved some cash, but then again, he would have been the best center by far this years FA period.

Smith when was the last time the Bruins went to arbitration with a player!?! Ugh.

With Hamilton, we might have been able to sign a reasonable bridge deal ($3 - 4 mil for three years) but if we give him the $5.5 for 6yrs.......that's a bargain in two years too!

So those three are around $8-$9.5 in cap being used up. ($66.5 - 68 million to the cap)

Anything on the Cap going up or staying the same yet?

they project it around 71.5 to 72 mil unless players use the 5 percent escalater but they wont because it affects their overall yearly taxes some how or something like that. If somebody can clarify.

I thought I have read that it could actually stay the same?

It is amazing that the U.S. Dollar is so strong with the rates at zero and the constant QE........come on Canada, damn it!

Hoping Connolly works out for you guys. Underrated player who never really got a fair shot in Tampa. Tons to like about his game, as Ty mentioned. I was really disappointed/sad when Yzerman traded him.

How the hell did we give Smith more than Tyler Johnson?

Johnson is a stud! Fast as hell with a great shot. Looks like a better version of Marchand. He may not have the D-side yet, but he doesn't make the stupid turnovers that Marchand does when Marchy tries to out deck the whole other team either though.

Hamilton should be getting Jonas Brodin/TJ Brodie money on this contract, around 4.5 aav.

though how bad Chia screwed up the negotiations with Dougie by giving Smith that ridiculous contract it's hard to say.

Not enough of a sample size to even make a judgement.

Sveddy signs in the KHL. New backup for the 4th consecutive year. I look to free agency as I feel subban isn't ready, andwe need someone to give us in the area of 25-30 games
